Understanding Conta

How does conta.vc work?

conta.vc is a payment account in reais that connects a balance under your own key to Pix. You receive, send, and keep money through the app, with no credit, overdraft, or debits created by conta.vc.

The path

From getting started to using it, without skipping a step.

  1. 01

    You create your conta

A passkey links your face or fingerprint to your conta’s wallet. There’s no password to memorize and no secret phrase to write down.

  2. 02

The balance stays under your key

The amount shown in the app is a balance in reais, kept in a wallet linked to you. conta.vc doesn’t have the signature needed to move it on its own.

  3. 03

    A provider connects to Pix

After identity verification, a licensed provider carries out the Pix orders you authorize in the app.

  4. 04

    Digital dollars turn into reais

When you receive digital dollars at a compatible address, the amount becomes available for conversion into a balance in reais. Sending follows the same path in reverse.

A payment account, not a traditional bank account

conta.vc was built to move money, not to sell debt. It offers no credit card, loan, overdraft, or financed credit line. That rules out a debt created inside the product automatically eating into the balance.

To use Pix, you go through identity verification with an ID document and a selfie. This verification confirms who is using your conta; it isn’t a credit check and doesn’t look up your credit score.

Where the money is kept

The balance isn’t just a number kept in an internal spreadsheet. It sits in a wallet associated with the user on a public network. The database helps the app show your profile, preferences, and history, but it isn’t the final authority on the balance.

The key used to authorize transactions isn’t available to the conta.vc team. That’s why the product can’t create a transfer in your name. The equally important consequence is that support also can’t recover the balance if all your passkeys are lost.

How Pix fits into this architecture

Pix runs on licensed infrastructure. In conta.vc, a provider serves as the bridge: it receives an order you authorized, carries out the Pix, and delivers the corresponding amount to the wallet or withdraws it from the wallet, depending on the flow.

While a Pix is in transit, the amount passes through the provider. Outside that operational moment, the balance is back under your conta’s key. A legitimate court order also still applies; self-custody doesn’t put anyone above the law.

How digital dollars come in and go out

Conta provides addresses for receiving digital dollars on compatible networks. The payer sends to the address shown in the app; the amount received is converted and appears in the balance in reais.

When you send digital dollars, you enter the destination address and authorize the transaction. The amount leaves the balance in reais and reaches the destination as the asset indicated in the app’s flow. conta.vc isn’t a dollar bank account and doesn’t provide ACH details.
